From the parking area in Santa Maddalena at the end of the Casies Valley, cross the valley brook on the right and then follow trail no. 12 through the Pfoital up to the Pfoi Alm (2134m) and through the valley to a crossroad. At this crossroad, turn right and follow path n. 13 to reach the Hintere Gsieser Lenke (2539m). From this saddle a path leads to the Schwarzsee (2455m).

To continue to the Hochkreuzspitze, you first have to go back to Hintere Gsieser Lenk, where you turn right and follow the path n. 10 northwards to the Hellböden (2710m). Along the crest you descend northwards to the Pfoischarte (2617m) and from there, following path n.10, you hike northwards again uphill to the Hochkreuzspitze (2739m).
