From the parking area in Santa Maddalena at the end of the Casies Valley, cross the valley brook on the right and follow the trail nr. 12 through the valley Pfoital up to the Pfoi Alm (2134m) and further through the valley up to a crossroads. At this crossroads, turn right and follow path no. 13 to reach the Hintere Gsieser Lenke (2539m). From this saddle a path leads to the Schwarzsee (2455m).

From here you continue on trail nr. 12 (Bonner Höhenweg), from which marked tracks turn off to the south, leading over stony grassy terrain and finally over rocks up to the Riepenspitze (2774m). 

Descent: From the summit, follow trail nr. 47, which first leads briefly along the sharp north-west ridge, then along the steep west flank and finally over alpine pastures down to the Stumpfalm (2001m, refreshment point available). From here a forest path (no. 47) leads through beautiful forests back to the starting point.
