From the Gasthof Karbacherhof, the trail follows the Karbachtal valley with a slight incline to the Gallfallalm (1674m). Pass the huts and continue the walk up the main valley. After a while it turns northwest and you follow the signs to the Ochsenfelderalm (2014m). After the Ochsenfelderalm you keep to the right and ascend a short steep step. Now you turn left and in a big right turn you reach the Ochsenfelder lakes. From there you ascend over a western ridge to Höllensteinspitze.
