From the Mountain Residence Montana you walk cross-country to the valley station of the ski lift. From there follow the sign n° 47/48 over the bridge of little river. Then you turn left and after the Schlosser Hof turn right. The hiking trail now leads through an old cattle drive into the Tscharniet valley.
This path is characterized by the toboggan run and the calming murmur of the Tscharniet stream in the background. Always following the forest path no. 47, you reach the Köfler Alm (1808m). Here you cross the brook on a narrow footbridge and after another 20 minutes you reach the Stumpfalm (2001m, refreshment stop).
