From the Mountain Residence Montana along the path "Talblickweg" towards the end of the valley to the hamlet of Rootmoos. From there follow the signs for path no. 53 into the valley through the spruce forest until you reach the junction with path no. 49A. Here you keep to the right and reach the Messner Hut (1660, refreshment stop). From there, continue into the valley to the Kradorfer Alm (1704m, refreshment stop) and from there follow trail no. 49A, the "Eichhörnchenweg" (Squirrel Trail), first across wide meadows and then through the forest, past the Moosalm (1471m, refreshment stop) and finally back to the starting point.
